Faucet & Sink Repair
Cartridges, shower valves, vintage faucets, upgrades—done clean, done right.
Faucet and Sink Repair That Actually Fixes the Problem
A drip isn’t just annoying—it’s usually a worn seal, a cartridge starting to fail, or a supply/stop that’s on its last legs. The goal isn’t “make it stop for now.” The goal is to repair it correctly so you’re not calling again in a month.
- Leaky faucets and handles that won’t shut off clean
- Low flow at a faucet or weird temperature control
- Leaking shutoff valves and supply lines
- Loose faucets, loose sinks, and mounting issues
- Shower valves with temperature swings or lukewarm water
Shower Valve Issues in Older Homes
A lot of Shorewood / North Shore homes have plumbing that’s been updated in stages—especially bathrooms. That’s why we see the same valve problems again and again: worn cartridges, pressure-balance issues, and mineral buildup.
Kohler Rite-Temp: Lukewarm Water, Pressure-Balance Problems
Kohler Rite-Temp valves commonly start acting up as they age—often around the 15–20 year range depending on water quality and usage. When the pressure balancing assembly gets restricted or worn, homeowners notice things like:
- Shower won’t get fully hot (stuck at lukewarm)
- Temperature swings when other fixtures run
- Reduced flow or a “lazy” shower even with good house pressure
Many times the fix is replacing the correct internal cartridge/pressure-balancing components (and verifying the stops are open and not plugged).
Moen Posi-Temp: Great Valve, But Cartridges Can Seize
Moen Posi-Temp valves are solid, but older cartridges can get locked in by mineral buildup. Removal is where people get in trouble. If you yank it wrong, you can crack plastic, distort parts, or damage the valve body.
- Cartridge pullers and the right technique matter
- We work carefully to avoid turning a cartridge swap into a valve replacement
- After replacement we test for smooth temp control and proper pressure
Older Delta and Vintage Faucets: “Gentle Hands” Required
Older Delta fixtures and classic mid-century setups can still be worth repairing—especially when they match the home. But they’re not forgiving. Many older installs use soft-drawn copper supplies that can kink or crack if forced.
- Soft copper can be damaged by aggressive wrenching
- Old stems can be seized and need careful extraction
- Seats, springs, and seals often need to be replaced as a set
If you have a 1950s-era faucet you want to keep, we can often rebuild it with new stems and seats and get it operating like it should.
Kitchen Faucet Upgrades
If your kitchen faucet is outdated or constantly dripping, upgrading can be the smarter move. A modern pull-down or pull-out sprayer is one of those “why didn’t I do this sooner” upgrades.
- Upgrade to pull-down / pull-out sprayers
- Replace loose faucets and failing mounting hardware
- Replace old shutoffs and supply lines (common hidden leak source)
- Fix low pressure caused by clogged aerators or internal faucet restrictions
